DR. JAMIE RIST

DR. JAMIE RIST, MD CCFP

FAMILY MEDICINE

Dr. Rist has an extensive and diverse background in Family Medicine.  She began her medical education at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and completed her Family Medicine specialty training as a resident physician here in Brandon.  Having grown up in rural southwestern Manitoba, Dr. Rist passionately returned to the area in 2014 to give back to her community.  Her work here has included clinic-based practice, hospital medicine, surgical assisting, obstetrics, newborn care and pediatrics, geriatrics, palliative care, and emergency care in Brandon and the surrounding rural communities. Dr. Rist maintains her admitting privileges at Brandon Regional Health Centre, including obstetrical privileges, as she is a firm believer in the importance of the continuity of patient care.  She also provides resident coverage at Fairview Personal Care Home.

Dr. Rist has a teaching appointment with the University of Manitoba Max Rady Faculty of Medicine.  She is responsible for the education and training of medical students and residents to whom she hopes to impart her passion for rural practice and diverse, broad-scope family medicine.

DR. MAEGAN RUTHERFORD, MD FRCSC

OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY
Dr Rutherford grew up in Winnipeg. She received undergraduate degrees at both Queen’s University and the University of Manitoba prior to completing her Doctor of Medicine, also at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Rutherford then completed a 5-year surgical residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University. 
 
In 2015, Dr Rutherford joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.  She was also appointed to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba as a lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Dr Rutherford is commited to educating and mentoring learners and holds the positions of Director of both the Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Obstetrics Programs for the University of Manitoba Max Rady College of Medicine Brandon Campus. Dr Rutherford takes an active role in the education of undergraduate medical students and post-graduate trainees in Family Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency programs, with a particular interest in simulation-based learning and hands-on skill development.
 
Dr. Rutherford provides surgical and emergency services in gynecology and obstetrics at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, as well as routine obstetrical care on the maternity unit.  Dr Rutherford provides low and high-risk obstetrical care in the clinic, as well as general gynecology, colposcopy and minor procedures such as IUD insertion.  Areas of special interest include minimally-invasive surgery, gynecologic dermatology, infertility, colposcopy, contraception, hereditary cancer-syndrome risk-reduction, transgender care and menopause.

DR. MUHAMMAD TARIQ, MD FRCS

FAMILY MEDICINE

Following his training and working as a surgeon in the United Kingdom, Dr. Tariq completed an additional residency in Family Medicine at the University of Nottingham in England. In 2010, Dr. Tariq moved to Canada and began work in Neepawa at the Beautiful Plains Community Medical Clinic. Dr. Tariq still works out of the clinic in Neepawa as well as on call shifts at the Neepawa Hospital and Emergency Room. He splits his time between his work at Neepawa and Southbridge Medical Clinic. In addition to his family practice Dr. Tariq’s area of interest is minor surgical procedures.

DR. JENNA SHIRLEY, MD FRCSC

OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY

After growing up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Dr. Shirley completed an Undergraduate Degree with a Bachelor of Science at the University of Saskatchewan. Following her undergraduate degree Dr. Shirley earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan, with training based out of Regina, Saskatchewan. After earning her medical degree, Dr. Shirley specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the University of Manitoba residency program.

Dr. Shirley provides surgical and emergency services in gynecology and obstetrics at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, as well as routine obstetrical care on the maternity unit. In the clinic setting, Dr. Shirley provides general gynecology services including minor procedures such as IUD insertion. Dr. Shirley’s clinic care includes both low and high-risk obstetrics. Areas of special interest include adolescent gynecology, contraception, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and colposcopy.
